A bespoke typeface designed in collaboration with Studio Studio for Þorgerður Ólafsdóttir’s artwork Eldfell Alphabet, featured in the exhibition A Meeting with Eldfell, curated by Vala Pálsdóttir at the Vestmannaeyjar Culture House.

The Eldfell typeface is inspired by signage and letterforms from the time of the 1973 volcanic eruption in Vestmannaeyjar, a small cluster of islands off of the south coast of Iceland. Abstract and geometric in design, the typeface features blobby shapes that evoke the fluidity of lava. Its alphabet includes a set of 102 unique letters and forms.
